RX-2 Concentrate is a permanent, high quality Portland cement with built in crystalline waterproofing technology which can be used to waterproof and protect existing concrete structures. It has been specifically designed to be applied as a cementitious slurry coating to interior or exterior concrete structures either above or below grade. RX-2 Concentrate prevents the penetration of water by reacting with the lime in the concrete to form insoluble crystals within the pores and capillaries to become an integral part of the concrete and act as a moisture barrier. A few of the areas that it can be used are basements, garages, foundations, swimming pools, ponds, fountains, drains, holding tanks, pits, slabs, footings, reservoirs, sewers, tunnels, piers, dams, canals, retaining walls and sea walls.
The concrete surface to be treated must be absorbent, completely clean and free of dirt, coatings, paint or any other foreign matter. Test the absorbency with a few droplets of water and make sure they absorb within 20 to 30 seconds, if they do not absorb then sandblast the concrete or treat with Eco Concrete Etcher or muriatic acid.
RX-2 Concentrate is easy to apply using either a semi-stiff nylon brush, push broom or a sprayer. For brush application blend 5 partsRX-2 Concentrate with 2 parts clean water by volume (for spray application use 3 parts of water) and mix to a creamy consistency. Do not mix more material than can be applied in 20 minutes and do not add water once mix starts to harden. The surface must be completely wet out with clean water prior to application and must remain wet during the application to facilitate the waterproofing reaction and curing process.RX-2 Concentrate should be applied to a thickness of 1/16” (1.25 mm). If a second coat is required it should be applied as soon as the first coat has cured and not longer than 48 hours later and use a light watering between coats. As soon as RX-2 Concentrate has hardened spray a fine mist to assist the curing process. Under normal conditions it is sufficient to spray the treated surfaces three times a day for 2 to 3 days. In hot or arid climates spraying may be required more frequently. During the curing period the coating must be protected from rain and frost.
Each pound of RX-2 Concentrate will cover approximately 6 to 9 square feet of concrete per application so a 60 pound pail will cover approximately 400 to 500 square feet of concrete with a single application.
